Artist Bio

Dum Dum Girls are an indie pop band from California currently signed to Sub Pop Records. Their name is a homage to The Vaselines album 'Dum Dum' and the Iggy Pop song "Dum Dum Boys". The group also cites The Ronettes, The Ramones, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Patti Smith, Spacemen 3, and Mazzy Star amongst their major influences.

Dum Dum Girls’ debut full-length album, I Will Be, was produced by Richard Gottehrer who had previously worked with Blondie, The Go-Gos,and Richard Hell and the Voidoids. Gottehrer also wrote the songs “My Boyfriend’s Back,” and “I Want Candy”. I Will Be was released to rave reviews in March 2010 and features guest spots by Yeah Yeah Yeah’s guitarist Nick Zinner and Dee Dee’s husband Brandon Welchez of Crocodiles.

“Every girl should be given an electric guitar on her 16th birthday.” With lines like this, it’s no wonder that Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains became such an inspiration to the Riot Grrrl movement. After her mother’s death, Corinne Burns (Diane Lane) decides to blow her desolate hometown, convincing her sister and cousin (Laura Dern) to join her. She scores them a spot opening for the washed up Metal Corpses and the up-and-coming Clash-esque Looters (The Clash’s Paul Simonon, The Sex Pistols’ Steve Jones and Paul Cook, and Ray Winstone). Quickly learning some of the hard truths of life on the road, Corinne reinvents herself with a fierce red blouse/black stockings wardrobe, skunk-styled hair, and a wholesale lifting of The Looters’ songs, furiously declaring, “We don’t put out!”
The Fabulous Stains is a lost post punk cult classic…..  1982 / USA / 87 min
